Knowing where you stand.
There comes a time in every friendship where you discover exactly where the importance of the friendship is placed to both you and the other person involved.
In the case of a friendship with someone I have known for about two years, this pivotal moment has happened during the past week. While I would say that I am glad to have her as my friend, I would also say that she is nothing more and in all likelyhood, never will be. I do not even think she could become a good friend, but rather just someone who I can have a good time hanging out with in a bar or at a party. Someone who I can have a few drinks with and do the small talk thing, but never really delve into the important or meaningful things in our lives.
I once thought that she had the potential to become something more in my life, but it is clear that there is just too much instability and uncertainty for that to occur.
